Dear Parents,

Next week, we will be celebrating Read Across America Week at Gilliard Elementary School. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in a love for reading and participate in fun activities throughout the week. As part of the celebration, students are allowed to dress out of uniform. Please refer to the attached flyer for specific guidelines on the weekly dress code.

We encourage all students to join in the festivities and start the week with enthusiasm. However, it is important to note that if any student begins to act out of character, this privilege can be revoked by an administrator at any time during the week. We kindly ask you to speak with your child about maintaining their best behavior throughout this period.

We appreciate your cooperation and support in making this event successful and enjoyable for everyone. Thank you in advance for your help. We are eagerly looking forward to a week filled with fun and learning.

Good afternoon parents. The time is nearing for our Annual Sneaker Ball for students in grades 3rd - 5th. This is an event the students look forward to every year. Tickets will go on sale beginning March 9, 2026. The cost of the tickets are $20. It is very important that you are in close communication with your child's teacher regarding their behavior. There will be no refunds given due to students not able to attend because of behavior. Also, students who are on the chronic absence list or ones that owe late fees are ineligible to attend . Notice to Parents of Bus Riders

Dear Parents,

We want to address some concerning behavior that has been escalating on the bus. To ensure the safety and well-being of all students, we will be reviewing the bus footage over the next few days. Please be advised that any students found in violation of the bus rules and regulations will be suspended from bus riding for a period of five days. Additionally, any fees accumulated for late pick-ups during this period will not be waived.

As a reminder, students should adhere to the following rules while riding the bus:

Do not use cell phones while on the bus.

No fighting or play fighting is permitted.

Remain seated while the bus is in motion.

Do not move from seat to seat while the bus is in motion.

Eating and drinking are not allowed on the bus.

Do not litter or throw objects out of the windows.

Refrain from using profane language or making inappropriate gestures.

Show respect to the driver and fellow students.

Do not yell or scream as it can distract the driver.

Do not deface school property in any form.

We appreciate your cooperation and support in reinforcing these guidelines with your children to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all bus riders.

This is a gentle reminder that we will host our Annual Pre-Valentine's Dance for students in grades PreK - 2nd grade. The dance will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026. This is such a fun event that the students enjoy. It will be held during school hours and is for students only. The cost to attend the dance is $10. Students should be sent to school dressed in their VALENTINE BEST. We will have our school technology team taking pictures for you to have for your memories of this event. The last day to pay for the dance is Monday, February 2nd at 12noon. Students who owe any fees will not be allowed to attend until the fees are cleared up.

Congratulations to our iReady Rockstar Classes for the week ending 1/30/26. These classes maintained an 85% accuracy in passed lessons in reading and/or math. Way to go!
